William J. Stringer

William J. Stringer was a caring Grandfather, Dad, Brother, Colleague and Friend. Bill left this world suddenly on February 17, 2023. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen, and he continued to love and honor her through the care of his children and grandchildren. Bill was born to William and Elizabeth Stringer on April 15, 1947. After graduating from St. John’s Cathedral High School in Paterson, New Jersey in 1965, Bill graduated from Seton Hall University in 1969. Bill married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Ellen Walsh, in 1970 and they had two daughters: Beth (Mark) Hutchinson and Kathleen (Randy) Paduchowski. He worked in a variety of sales positions in the automotive industry; owning his own business prior to his retirement. Bill enjoyed playing golf and cards with his many friends. Despite his success, Bill would cite his grandchildren as the best part of his life. He was a loving “Pa” to Emily, Ryan, Michael and Joseph and they brought him much pride and great joy.  

Bill will be sorely missed by his many nieces and nephews and their children as well as his siblings. Bill was a big brother to six: Kathy (Greg) Ziegler, Ginna Stringer, Beth (Charlie Ratcliff) Stringer, Mary Pat (Bob Collis) Leonard, Peggy (Mike) Mitchell, and Leo (Margie) Stringer. Bill loved his family deeply and was a treasure to all.

Visitation Friday, February 24, 2023 from 3-8 pm at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Avenue, Farmington, Michigan 48835. Additional visitation Saturday, February 25, 2023 from 9 am until time of funeral service at 10 am at the funeral home. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield, Michigan. His family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boys Scouts of America, Detroit Dog Rescue and Gleaners.  (See links below)
