Walter Cornelius Koning

Walter Cornelius “Walt” Koning, of Farmington Hills, Michigan passed away on March 26, 2022 at the age of 77.

Walt was born in Long Beach, California on December 26, 1944. Beloved husband of Lois Koning of which they were together 48 years. Loving father of Chris (Julie) Koning, Cathy Koning, Walter Koning, Paul Koning, and Laurie (Mirko) Koning; Beloved Grandfather of Justin Koning, Magdalena Koning and Leander Koning; Caring brother of John Koning, Walt was preceded in death by his parents John and Lena Koning, brother Tom Koning, and sister Alice DeVries.

Walt built homes in Farmington Hills, Michigan and enjoyed going on mission trips to rebuild damaged homes around the country. He and Lois traveled extensively.

Walt will be remembered as a charitable person, doing his regular work, and often telling the customers to “just put your money in the collection plate”. Walt was also a former Jaycee, Lion’s club member, and served 2 years in the army.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 1, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 2, at North Hills Christian Reformed Church, 3150 North Adams Rd, Troy Michigan at 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm. 

Donations can be made in Walter’s name to the American Heart Association or Alzheimer’s Association.
