Tina Smithee

Tina Smithee of East China, Michigan, passed away early on the morning of Wednesday, October 19, 2022.
Tina, the daughter of Dalbert and Edith Secrist, was born March 2, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan.

Tina married Rick Smithee on May 8, 1965, and spent 57 years together, while raising their two sons, Todd and Shawn Smithee.
 

Every neighborhood has that “one mom” who makes everything happen, and that was Tina. Tina logged countless miles driving the kids (and their friends) to the pool, baseball games, parks, athletic practices, and scouts.

 On top of all of this, she cared for Ben, the one hundred-plus pound family dog.

Tina loved to travel with her family, and planned summer vacations every year. The Grand Canyon and New York were two of her favorite destinations.
The travel bug didn’t go away after the kids moved out. She and Rick traveled the world together, including places like Australia, France and Ireland.
 
Tina was the proud grandmother of Connor Smithee, Erin Smithee and Tina Marie Smithee; dear sister of Judy Harris, Bonnie Miller and the late Mark Secrist. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Tina loved helping people, volunteering at Salvation Army, loved to travel and be with family.
The Smithee family will receive guests at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 9:30 am – 11:00 am, Saturday, October 22, 2022

 Burial will follow visitation, at Oakwood Cemetery, Farmington.

In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Tina may be directed to Salvation Army
