Tarmo Iikka Alholinna, 81, peacefully passed away while sleeping at his home in Howell, Michigan surrounded by his family on March 11th 2022.
Tarmo was born on January 26th 1941 in Helsinki, Finland son of Paavo and Edla (Savolainen) Alholinna. He immigrated to the United States in 1948 and in 1961. Tarmo served in both the Finnish Army and the United States Army. Tarmo was naturalized as a United States citizen and he loved this country. He loved spending time with his family. He spent almost his entire working life with AT&T.
Tarmo married Eileen (Hendrickson) on July 31st 1965 in Takoma Park, Maryland. They were married for 56-1/2 years, and raised nine children.
Tarmo is survived by his dear wife Eileen, son Nathan (Lea) of Castlewood, South Dakota, daughter Noelle (Paul) Elsberry of St Augustine, Florida, son Jared (Jody) of Greenfield, Minnesota, daughter Dawn (John) Higgins of Fowlerville, Michigan, son Jason (Georgia) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, son Rick (Carel) of Hancock, Michigan, son Timothy (Janine) of Ranchester, Wyoming, daughter Trisha Alholinna of Hancock, Michigan, daughter Trudy (Tom) May of Pinckney, Michigan, 26 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, brothers Tapio, Esko, Pekka M (Soili), and Arno (Emma) Alholinna, sisters Ritva (Greg) Halling, Tarja (Warren) Kivari, Seiri (David) Pekkala and Kirsti (David) Sakari, and a host of Christian friends.
Tarmo was preceded in death by his parents Paavo and Edla, and granddaughter Ava Marie Alholinna.
Tarmo was a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.
