Roy passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side at the age of 96. Roy was born in Clarkston, Michigan on February 27, 1927, to parents Charles Terry and Iva Pearl Blimpka. Roy married Anna Perva on April 17, 1944. They were together for 25 years and raised 4 children together. Following Anna’s passing, Roy married Julie DiVincent and they spent 42 lovely years together. Roy has a combined family of 7 children: Anita (Bob) Teffer, Josephine (John) Vincenti, Christina (Tom) James, Carol (John) Kovacs, Roy II, and James (the late Brenda) Terry, Robert (Pamela), 25 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great grandchildren. One of Roy’s proudest achievements was his service in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Roy was a Navy Seabee and specialized in underwater demolition. Roy’s service in the Navy was from April 2, 1945, to May 26, 1946. Roy will be remembered as a family man. Roy enjoyed spending every moment possible with this family. A funeral service will be held at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 11:00AM (visitation beginning one hour prior). Roy will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit immediately following the service. Roy was loved by many, and he will be missed dearly.
