Age 81, was called home to the Lord on July 13 in Novi, MI. Cherished husband of 59 years of Marilyn Busekros Schueneman. Loving father of Mary Kay, Sally and Debbie and her husband Steve. Dear grandfather of Rachel, Mary, Martha, Sam, and Anna. Beloved brother of Judith and her husband Herb. He was predeceased by his parents, two brothers and a sister.

Born in Kewanee, IL, Roy graduated from Northwestern University with both a bachelor's and master's degree in music. He later earned a specialist's degree from Eastern Michigan University and spent 31 years as a teacher and administrator in the public schools of Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. He had a special gift for working with teen-agers and maintained contact with many of his former students throughout his life.

Roy's life was a full one. It centered on his family (pets included!), his church and his music. The last two were combined during 40 years as a director of church choirs. He was well-known for his ability to inspire the members of his choirs, and wherever he served, the choir grew in numbers, repertoire, and the joy of worship through music.

On Roy's retirement from church music, he and Marilyn traveled extensively. Roy set foot on all 7 continents, virtually circumnavigated the world and, together, Roy and Marilyn covered the globe from the North to the South Poles.

Visitation will be at the Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington on Friday, July 17, from 2 to 8 p.m. Services will be at Salem United Church of Christ in Farmington on Saturday, July 18, at 3:30 p.m.
Interment, Monday, July 20th at Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, Illinois.
