Robert Niemi

Robert Irving Niemi – Age 72, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at his home in Redford, Michigan after a short battle with brain cancer. Bob is preceded in death by his father - Irving Niemi; mother - Beulah Pinneo Niemi; sisters – Diana Jean Niemi and Carole Leib. Bob is survived by four nephews, many cousins and several very close friends that he considered family.

Bob was born in Detroit Jan 14, 1949. Graduated from Redford Union High School. Enlisted in the Army in 1969 during Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany as a Transport Driver. After leaving the service in 1971, Bob worked for 30+ years at Banner Lumber driving a lumber truck. He belonged to the teamster’s union.

Bob enjoyed building decks, porches and sheds for many friends. He enjoyed being outside, snowmobiling, four wheeling, being on the water, going to auctions, listening to music specially the oldies, being with friends and vacationing. He made many weekend trips and vacations to his family’s property to help his parents build a cabin on Lake Lac La Belle in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. After retirement, Bob would spend the warmer months and fall at the camp/cabin. Once the leaves changed colors, Bob would head back down state for the winter. Bob’s greatest joy was being at his camp/cabin. He loved when his family and friends would come to visit and enjoy his little piece of Heaven in the UP. Bob’s final resting place will be at a family plot at the cabin.

Bob was a special person not only to his relatives, but to multiple friends and their families. He holds a special place in many hearts. He will be greatly missed. The Miracle family would like to thank the family and friends that assisted in making it possible for Bob to stay at home during this time. He was certainly showered with love.

Visitation: Friday, August 27,2021, from 2 - 8 pm at Thayer Rock Funeral Home.

Funeral service: Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 11 am at Thayer Rock
