Mary Lou Pala Obituary

Mary Lou Pala of Farmington Hills Michigan and Titusville, Florida, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 at the age of 82. Mary Lou was born December 24, 1939 in Wyandotte, Michigan to Alexander and Elizabeth Pala. She attended Ladywood High School in Livonia.
She was a loving and devoted mother of 3 children, Vicky McCarthy (John), Richard La Flam (Linda), Karen La Flam- Higgins. She was a dear sister of Elizabeth Tyghem and Jo Ann McCready. She was the proud grandmother of 7 grandchildren, Joseph McCarthy, (Kate) Ryan McCarthy, Brendan McCarthy, Melanie La Flam, Eric LaFlam, Alex McFall and Emily Stokes, (Leanne) and 3 great grand children, Joannie McCarthy, Veda McCarthy and Ruby McCarthy.
Mary Lou moved to Florida in 1977 and was employed by Lockheed Space Operations Company at Kennedy Space Center as an Administrative Assistant to the director of Mission management and as a special investigator. She was involved with the National Management Association where she held the title of Chairman of the Board. Horseback riding and spending time at the beach while living in Florida were two of her favorite pastimes.
She moved back to Farmington Hills, Michigan in 1993 and was employed by Ford Motor Company as an Executive Assistant managing governmental, state and local affairs until she retired in February 2006.
Mary Lou enjoyed spending time with her family. She attended Brightmoor Christian Church and she had many hobbies. When she wasn’t in the vegetable garden, weaving a new basket, bowling another 200 game, crocheting a blanket for someone, she was at the sewing machine making a new outfit to wear the next day, or in the kitchen preparing a new recipe that she had just torn out of the local paper. She read the newspaper from cover to cover everyday. And, she was always up on current events happening in her city. Many torn informational newspaper articles could be found posted in appropriate places around her house as reference if ever needed. She had a very strong work ethic and had high expectations. She always had a to-do list posted on her refrigerator along with photo magnets of her grandchildren. She was loved and she will be missed.
A memorial service for family and close friends will be held at 9:30 am on November 1 at Brightmoor Christian Church in Novi.
