Mary W. Jones was born in 1928 and passed away on Christmas Day 2021, just two days before her 93rd birthday. She was the daughter of Dorothy and William Wood. She grew up in Pontiac but as an adult lived in Birmingham, Michigan: Mexico, Missouri; Sun City West, Arizona; and finally back to Michigan in Waterford. She had three sisters: the late Barbara Burder (Bill), Joan Costello (the late Raymond), and Sara Lee (Michael Tripp).
Mary married Robert W. Jones, the love of her life, in 1950. They had five children: William (Janet), Jennifer (Reid), Shelley (partner John Hutcheson), Steven AKA Casey (partner Diane Sweet), and Mathew (Paulette), 14 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Robert died in 1998, and Mary often spoke of how she missed him.
Mary was a social, upbeat person who loved many things. First and foremost, she loved her family. She often said how lucky she was to have had the family she did, including not only her husband, children, and grandchildren, but also her sisters and in-laws. She loved her friends, of which there were many. She loved music and was an accomplished pianist. She played not only for her own enjoyment but also in the past accompanied in schools and at church. She was in her church choir for many years and had a lovely alto voice. She was an avid traveler and had been to many different countries all over the world. She loved to garden and had beautiful gardens in Michigan and Missouri. Even in Arizona, she enjoyed her cacti and fruit trees. She loved to read, especially a good mystery. It was rare to see her without a book on hand. And she loved laughing at a good joke. The sillier the joke or the birthday card, the better.
