Mary "Louise" Bohn of Levering, Michigan passed away Friday, February 23, 2024 at the age of 91. She was born September 18, 1932 in Ashland Mississippi to William and Mary Ford. Beloved wife of the late Warner "Jim" Bohn. Loving mother of Catherine Park (the late Bob) Ronald (Debbie) Bohn, Linda (the late John) Nedroscik, Gregory (Renee) Bohn, and the late Dennis Bohn.
Dearest grandmother of Robert, Philip, Selena, Heather, Justin, Angela, Stacy, Grace, Jon, and the late Michael. Great-grandmother of twenty-six and great-great-grandmother of two. Louise was predeceased by her parents and her siblings Martha Harrington and Bill Ford.
Mary, mostly known by all as Louise, began her life in a small rural town near Tupelo Mississippi. She was mostly raised by her maternal grandparents (whom she spoke of with great love and admiration). She, her mother, siblings, aunts and uncles lived in a simple tin roof house and worked on a sharecropper’s cotton farm.
In 1944 Louise’s parents and her two siblings moved to Detroit Michigan to find work in the automotive industry.
In high school, Louise met the love of her life Jim and the high school sweethearts married still in their teen years. Louise and Jim had (5) children by the time they were 25 years old. Together they raised their children on a very small income in the St. Brigid Parish, in north-west Detroit. They moved to Southfield MI in 1968.
When Jim had health issues in the late 1970’s, Louise decided to get job. Through the 1980’s, she worked on the assembly line at Detroit Diesel and eventually worked at the GM Parts Warehouse in Livonia until she retired.
In 1992, Louise and Jim purchased a retirement lake home up-north in Levering, MI where they could enjoy nature, wildlife and even a little winter snow. When Jim passed away in February 2002, Louise continued to spend spring, summer, and most
of the fall by herself in northern Michigan "Up North". She enjoyed gardening, hanging out with the lake crowd, baking, and shopping. She had many visitors during the summer, and she found great joy in spending time with her grand-kids and great-grand kids. Louise enjoyed her independence until 2019 when health issues prevented her from living alone.
She was an attractive woman who aged well, had a great sense of humor, and loved animals. She will be remembered as loving, generous, incredibly hard working, outspoken and as a person who wasn’t afraid to share her opinions. We will all miss her presence and forever she’ll be in our hearts.
