Marjorie J. Haarala Obituary

Haarala, Marjorie
Marjorie (M) Haarala, age 89, passed away at American House Assisted Living Center in Farmington Hills, MI on Monday, August 31, 2015.
Marge was born on May 17, 1926 on the Johnson Farm near Calumet, Michigan. She married Matt Haarala on May 1, 1954.

Margie loved having family and friends stop by to visit. She was always quick to ask them to stay for a home cooked dinner and homemade goodies for dessert. She loved to bake and her freezer always was full of pies and berries as well as homemade soups. At Christmas time she would make over 1,000 Christmas cookies and send them out to family and friends, and shared them with anyone who stopped by. Like all those who were raised through the Depression, she appreciated everything the good Lord provided and she knew how to make the most of it. She will be missed dearly.

Preceding her in death are her parents, Lempi and Edward Johnson, and siblings, Sarah, James, Peter and Rose.
She is survived by her husband Matt; her daughters, Robin (Larry) Fichuk and Jackie (Tom) Joseph; her son Joel (Jenny) Haarala; grandchildren Sarah Fichuk, Jessica (Jarrod) Breeden, Tim (Anna) Joseph, Matt (Kelly) Joseph, James (Crystal), Michael Haarala, Jacob Haarala, 5 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday September 2nd. at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Ave. (1 block w. of Farmington Road).
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 3 at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Ave. (1 block w. of Farmington Road).
