Katherine Ruth Simmonds Immergluck of Farmington Hills, Michigan, passed away April 12, 2024, at the age of 95. Born November 1, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan to Francis and Mary (Fisher) Simmonds, Katherine was the beloved wife of William Immergluck for 70 wonderful years and the loving mother of the late Jean and Glen Bis, Claire (Bernard) Rice, Mary, Ellen and the late Paul Koehler, Patricia (Robert) Douglass, Daniel (Lilly) Immergluck. Katherine is survived by siblings Margaret McGinley and Jean Simmons and is preceded in death by her sister Marie Jewett.
Katherine deeply loved her grandchildren Evan (Amber), Joel, Alex (Sabrina), Kate, Anna, Ruth (Raphael), Rebecca, Seth (Theresa), Bree (Nathan), Samuel (Shana), Noah (Rachel), Benjamin (Harley). They and great-grandchildren Chelsea, Clara, and Paul; Maya and Jacob; Lucy, Max and Mae; Austin and Ian; and Westley loved nothing more than to visit Katherine to read books or play games together.
In addition to Katherine’s full life as matriarch of her family, she worked as the secretary at Gesu Elementary School in Detroit for 27 years. She was the kind face and voice in the principal’s office for so many children, parents, and teachers. Katherine was an avid reader, seamstress, and boating partner for Bill, and she volunteered for several causes, including open housing, Focus Hope, Parkinson's Foundation, and the Arthritis Foundation. A friend, neighbor, and supporter of many, Katherine will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
