Joyce E. Harmala died  February 25, 2025 at the age of 86. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Harmala, and her son Timmy Harmala. 

Joyce was born on September 10, 1938 to Edwin and Alina Niemela in Detroit, Michigan. She was raised in Sebeka, Minnesota, raised her family in Farmington Hills, Michigan and resided most recently in Howell, Michigan. 

She was the loving mother of seven children, Terry (Michele), Laurie (Larry) Hamilton, Linda (Mike) Mattson, Leanne, Kevin, Karl (Kelli), Lisa (Matt) Kominars. She is survived by her grandchildren Michael Hacker, Christina (Justin) Dillow, Ryan (Melissa) Harmala, John (Sydney) L’Esperance, Jessica (Brandon) Phillips, Liz Faye, Emma Kominars, Tyler Kominars, Abigail, Alize, Kaydence, Lily, Sidney, and Faith, and her five great-grandchildren.

Visitation Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 9:30 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM at the First Apostolic Lutheran Church, 2970 Oak Grove Road, Howell, MI 48855. Interment to follow at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi, Michigan.
