Joseph Balcain Obituary

The family of Joseph Balcain sadly announces his passing on December 12, 2024, at the great age of 95.  He was born in Edinburgh, Scotland to John and Elizabeth (Rodgers) Balcain.  He was one of 5 boys.  He served in the British Army and moved to the states in his 20s where he met the love of his life, Betty (Comerford).  They were married for 62 years before her passing.  They had two daughters Heather (Alan) Chittaro and Deborah Balcain; three grandchildren Ryan (Adriana) Chittaro, Paige Chittaro (Paul Dostal), and Jamie Chittaro (Matt Turowski).  He was known as “Papa Joe” to his four great grandchildren Connor Chittaro, Mason Chittaro, Reece Ashton and Allyson Chittaro.  He retired from General Motors where he was dubbed the nickname Scotty.  He enjoyed camping (tried to visit all 50 states), fishing, golfing, the Red Wings, the Tigers and his dogs Simba and Peanuts.  He will be truly missed.  Here’s to you Joe!
