John J. Tracey Jr., 81, of Farmington, MI, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2025. Born in Yonkers, NY to John J. and Cora Tracey Sr. (nee Potter), he spent his early years in the Bronx, NY before moving to Dumont, NJ. He graduated from Dumont High School and attended Westchester Community College and Milwaukee School of Engineering in Wisconsin. His educational pursuit then brought him back to the east coast where he received his BA and MBA at Fairleigh Dickinson University.
John started his career working as a federal employee at Picatinny Arsenal in the engineering department. After gaining valuable experience there, he transitioned to the private sector, taking on roles as a Design Engineer and Regional Sales Manager for Ferguson Machine Co, which became a division of Crane Co.
In 1986, Ferguson acquired PickOmatic Systems of Detroit where he was relocated to head the regional office. During his 25-year tenure, he was instrumental in developing innovative engineering solutions and significantly increasing regional sales.
He was a passionate football fan who played the sport in high school and college. He was a devoted NY Giants fan, even after moving to Lions territory, his love of the Giants never ceased. An avid boater he spent his weekends on Lake St Clair.
He is survived by his spouse of 31 years, Diane. Four children; Laura Diliberto, John J Tracey III, Lisa Tracey Panno (Taylor) and Michael Tracey (Kris), three stepchildren; Jennifer Heider (John), Michael Poulson and Matthew Poulson and nine grandchildren; Kevin Anema, Frank Diliberto III, Anthony Diliberto, Cory Panno, Madoc Panno, Harper Panno, Katherine Tomlinson, Jack Tomlinson and Claire Tomlinson.
Visitation Wednesday, February 26, 2025 from 10 am until time of funeral service at 12 noon at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Avenue, Farmington, Michigan.
