John Raymond Robbins, age 91, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, passed away on March 8, 2023. John was born the oldest of three children to Raymond and Margaret Robbins in Detroit, Michigan on January 20, 1932. After John graduated from East Detroit High School in 1950, he enlisted in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army. John later enjoyed a distinguished career of 42 years with Consumers Power Company. He married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Foley, on April 21, 1956 and had five children. John retired in 1997, spending his time with family and enjoying his northern Michigan home. He is survived by his wife Patricia Robbins, his children Kathleen Vitous (Wm. Joseph Vitous), Diane Mettam (Dean Mettam), Dawn Robbins, John Robbins, Jr. (Jacqueline Robbins) and Kelly Robbins as well as his grandchildren Matthew Vitous, Laura Vitous, Emily Edgar (Jacob), Elizabeth Mettam, Thomas Robbins and Michael Robbins.
Visitation Thursday, March 16 from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Avenue, Farmington, Michigan. The funeral will take place on Friday, March 17 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 23815 Power Road, Farmington, Michigan. John will lie in state at 9:30 am with Mass celebrated at 10:00 am. He will be buried at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to NF Michigan (P.O. Box 6026 Grand Rapids, MI 49516), or the Wounded Warrior Project, in memory of John Robbins.
