John Moilanen Obituary

John “Johnny” Moilanen, of Farmington Hills, tragically passed on August 22, 2026. He was born January 9, 2004, to Craig and Kristin Moilanen.

Beloved son of Kristin; dear brother to Jessica and Emily, and brother-in-law to Cort and Logan; caring grandson to John and Cindy Moilanen and Gordon and Judy Wolter; Johnny will be dearly missed by his many friends, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Johnny is now reunited with his father Craig Moilanen.

John was a young man who loved the outdoors, whether it was sitting in a deer blind during hunting season, taking care of someone’s yard, or sitting in a boat casting a line, he loved the fresh breeze and bit of sun on his face.

Along with his admiration for nature John was a man who loved being active. He never shied away from a ball, stick, or race that could score him points. With his competitive and energized nature John was always the one dragging friends and family to the next activity, and if you dared thinking of going to bed early he would remind you of how much life there is to live.

Another thing about John is that he didn’t like small talk too much and he didn’t really care what the weather was like, because he already knew it’s the humidity that gets ya. One of the topics he could never let go of was the belief that any food could be categorized into one of four  categories, soup, salad, sandwich, or ravioli. As you finish reading this, we ask that the next time you are eating to think of John and convince him what you are having is either a soup, salad, sandwich or ravioli. He did always love a good debate.
