On June 9th, 2026, John Andrew Erickson passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family following a long battle with cancer.

Born December 22, 1951, to Andrew and Sylvia Erickson, John grew up in Livonia, MI. After graduating from Adlai E Stevenson High School in 1970, he moved to California, but returned to Michigan a few years later, where he met and married Alyse Kay (Alexander) Erickson. They eventually settled in Brighton, MI to raise their five children. After the children were grown, they built a house in Pinckney, MI and he resided there until his death. John spent his career working as a journeyman pipefitter, eventually owning a mechanical contracting business, Precision Climate Services, Inc.

A loving and devoted father, John leaves behind his children: Lisa, Stacy, Amber (Marc), Brandon (Jennifer), and Ashley. He was also a beloved "Papa" to Brittany, Colton, Hailee, Hayden, Nola, Liam, Gwen, June, and many great-grandchildren. John spent a lifetime supporting his family with unending love, humble wisdom, and gentle encouragement.

John is survived by his immediate family, including his brothers Stan (MaryEllen), Dennis, Gary (Audrey), and Norman (Sue), along with his sisters Carolyn, Eleanor, and Mary (Peter). He also leaves behind many extended family members, dear friends, and colleagues. John was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and four of his siblings: Norma-Jean, Ellwood, Ron, and Helen.

As a lifelong member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, John frequently shared his belief upon the merits of Jesus and spoke freely of his Christianity. Known for his caring heart and kindness, he will be deeply missed by all who love him.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026 from 3-8pm at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, 34100 West 8 Mile Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48335. 

Instate will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 10am, until service at 11am at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church.
