Jeanette Cosper Obituary

Beautiful wife, loving mother, faithful friend and courageous woman of deep faith, Jeanette died peacefully in her home at Ideal Senior Living on Thursday, September 30,2021.

Born on May 2, 1925 to Ula and Chester Arthur Murdock, she was the youngest of six fun-loving children who shared the love of music, dance, and athletics.  She was a devoted wife to Leslie Patrick Charles King from 1945 to 1977 and to Paul Cosper from 1994 to 2004.

Beloved Mother, Jeanette is survived by her son John King (Marilyn) and her daughters, Joan Jensen (David), Janice Eckler (Brian); she was predeceased by her precious daughter Judy Elvy (Russ).

Jeanette was a joyfully present Grandmother to 12 Grandchildren: Sandra Elvy, Todd Jensen (Jennifer), Christopher King (Kathryn), Heather Noble, Rebecca Elvy, Christian Jensen, Joshua Hinman, Kelly King (Dan French), Andrew King (Cricket), Kathryn Flynn (Chris), Karilyn Picard (Chris), and Ashley Selak (Dave).

She was a proud and loving Great Grandmother to 26 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great, Great Grandchildren:

LeeAnn Grunland, Stephen and Vincent Battaglia, Jessica Thorpe, Caleb Bien-Aime, Breelie Bien-Aime, Michelle Douma

Cole, Emma and Annie Jensen, Adrianna Jensen,Caroline, Ryan and Anna King, Adelaide and Alessia French, Baylor and Brighton King, Eleanor Flynn, Andrew Rodrigues-Hinman, Mia Bella Hinman, Jaedin Glenn and Nathan Selak, Carter, Gavin, Noah Picard.

When Paul and Mom married in 1994, Paul and Bonnie Cosper’s three children, Candi Laurence, Nancy Smith (Tim) David Cosper (Pamela), became an important part of her life along with their five grandchildren, Lauren Abbe (Bill), Nina Palma (Louis), Karly Smith, Thomas Cosper (Arjola), and Kelly Bain (Chris).

Jeanette was surrounded her entire life by a large extended family who remember her for her joy, generosity and beautiful smile.  She took great pleasure in large and small family gatherings; she was always strengthened by the presence of her family.

Mom had a song in her heart and loved to sing even as a very young child. Jeanette sang in the Cooley high school choir and ensemble, for four years at Christ Church Cranbrook, for years with Tuesday Musicale under the direction of Mrs. Jewel and at her home church of Pembroke Chapel.  In Traverse City she sang with the Sweet Adalines. She sang and provided piano accompaniment for the Foxy Grandmas at Fox Run.  Listening, singing or lip-syncing to itune melodies from the 20s and 30s brought warm smiles during her last few months of life!

Mrs. Cosper was a traditional homemaker until her children were grown, when she began selling real estate.   She enjoyed work as long as it didn’t interfere with her number one calling of Grandmother.  She was likable and found success in whatever she chose to do.  Jeanette enjoyed traveling with friends and later with Paul and the Nomads.

Mrs. Cosper lived independently at Fox Run, Novi, MI from 2004 to 2020 and at Ideal Senior Living until her passing on Sept. 30, 2021.
