With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Janice May Childs, who left us on June 28, 2025 following a courageous and vigilant battle with COPD. She was 76 years young.
Born on May 17, 1949, and raised in Sault Ste. Marie, Janice was the beloved daughter of Shirley Edward and the cherished sister of Roger and Randy Edward. From a young age, she showed the kind of resolve, strength, and compassion that would define her life.
Janice was a force of nature. An incredibly kind, action-oriented woman who dedicated herself to helping others. Whether it was friends, neighbors, or anyone in need, Janice showed up and made things happen. She was the person you called when you didn’t know what to do, because she always did.
As an ambitious and experienced executive secretary, Janice was known for her sharp mind and tireless work ethic. But her legacy goes far beyond her professional life; she was a proud and devoted mother to her three boys Matt, Dan, and Ben, whom were the lights of her life - she raised them with fierce love, unwavering support, and endless pride. She was the rock of her family: steady, dependable, and deeply loved.
Janice found joy in the little things: bowling nights, long walks, burger and fries, country music, conversation, and sharing drinks and laughs at the diner with George. Always on the move, she lived life with purpose and energy.
To know her was to love her. A mother, sister, friend, partner, goal-getter, caretaker, confidant, role model, helper, survivor - Janice leaves behind a lasting imprint on her family, friends, and community. Her spirit of compassion, strength, and love will continue to guide us.
Janice was and is so easy to love. She will be forever missed - until we meet again. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider a donation to the COPD foundation (copdfoundation.org) or simply perform a small act of kindness in her honor, just as she did so often for others.
