Janet Alice (Newington) Merrill

Janet Merrill of Novi passed away unexpectedly on March 25, 2024 in Tampa, Florida.  She was born June 29, 1939 in Wayne, Michigan to William and Alice Newington. 

Janet was very crafty and enjoyed scrapbooking and card making.  She really loved her music and could always be found on the dance floor.  She also loved spending time outdoors especially camping, boating, fishing and simply spending time on the lake.  She was so proud of her kids and grandkids and loved the time spent with them above all else.  She also loved her pets and took very good care of them.

Beloved wife of the late William Merrill.  Loving mother of the late Donald Frederick Madley, Frederick (Katherine) Madley II, Terri (Christopher) Gogola, and Bruce Madley.  Dearest grandmother of Frederick Madley III, Trevor (Jenna) Gogola, Austin Gogola, Marc Madley, and Gabriela Madley.  Dear great-grandmother of Piper Gogola.  Sister of Patricia (James) Morris, twin sister the late Joan (the late Hugh) Carpenter, and Deborah (Edward) Applebee.  She was also survived by her boyfriend Ken Bothof and many nieces and nephews. 

Visitation Monday, April 8, 2024 from 3-8 pm at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Avenue, Farmington, Michigan 48335.  Additional visitation Tuesday, April 9, 2024 from 10 am until time of funeral service at 11 am at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia, Michigan.
