James “Jim” Traver Forbes of Farmington Hills passed away September 18, 2024 at the age of 97.  He was born April 8, 1927 in Detroit, Michigan to Russell Clifton and Wava Marie Forbes.

Devoted husband to the late Wilma for 65 years. Loving father of the late James (the late Debbie) Forbes, Gail (Mike) Williams, Beth (John) Bell, and Brian Forbes (Valerie). Cherished grandfather of Kelly Carey, Lisa Bell, Robert Williams, Jennie (Eric) Kroll, Joshua (Ashley) Bell, and Lauren Williams. Beloved great-grandfather of Ashlyn Carey, Colin Williams, Dylan Williams, Charlotte Bell, and Traver Kroll. Cherished brother of Richard Forbes and Marylou Yates.

Jim was a dedicated mechanic in the automotive industry and a proud Army veteran.

Throughout his life, Jim found joy in traveling and camping with his beloved wife Wilma, creating cherished memories exploring Las Vegas and various corners of Michigan. Their adventures were always filled with laughter and camaraderie with friends.

Jim's unwavering commitment extended to his community, where he served as Sgt-at-Arms in the American Legion Groves-Walker Post 346. He took pride in his role on the Honor Guard, ensuring that flags no longer in service were respectfully retired.

Jim's love for his family and friends will forever be remembered.

A Funeral Service in honor of Jim's life will be held at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home with military honors (33603 Grand River Ave., Farmington, MI 48335) on September 26, 2024, at 7:00 pm with visitation starting at 4:00 pm. Following the service, a final interment ceremony will take place at the Great Lakes National Cemetery.

in Holly, MI, on September 27, 2024, at 10:30 am, where he will be laid to rest.

Jim will be dearly missed, but his spirit and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace as he embarks on his next great adventure alongside his beloved Wilma.
