James Elliott Coffelt II

November 25, 1950 to November 17, 2023

Jim Coffelt left this life on November 17, 2023 at the age of 72, and while his body was broken he left a rich tapestry of a life of kindness and gentleness.

Jim was born on November 25, 1950, an only child of Christine (Kral) Coffelt and Robert Coffelt. The home of his youth was Garden City Michigan and he graduated from Garden City High School Class of 1968.

In the early 1970’s he enrolled in the apprentice program at Ford Motor Company becoming an electrician and journeyman at the stamping plant in Dearborn Michigan. Jim worked at Ford motor company until his retirement. He loved his work and worked a great deal of overtime which led to his nickname at Ford as “O.T.” (overtime).

He loved golfing, boating, fishing, his vegetable garden, and of course most of all his family.

Jim was a member of Plymouth Rock Chapter No. 47  Free and Accepted Masons as well as Eastern Star Orient Chapter No. 77.

Jim is survived by his wife of 23 years Sara, his son James (Genevieve) Coffelt III , his step daughters; Melissa (Bill) Tringale and Elise (Steve) Bodei and his grandchildren Mathew Coffelt, Rachel Coffelt, Caitlin Sorgen, Grace Tringale, Lucy Tringale and Bryn Bodei, as well as his very special friends Kathy and Frank Damaskas.

He is  preceded in death by his parents, his late wife Donna (Atherton) Coffelt and daughters; Julie Coffelt and Jennifer Sorgen.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be held Sunday, November 26, 2023 at Thayer Rock Funeral Home 33603 Grand River Ave, Farmington, MIchigan 48335.Visitation at 10 am with Services to follow at 12 pm.
