Gail Heist, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025, held in the love of her family. She was 77.
Gail is survived by her devoted husband, Gary Heist, with whom she shared a beautiful life filled with love and laughter. She was the cherished mother of Julie Rothweiler (Mike) and proud grandmother to John and Lauren, who brought immense joy to her life. She also leaves behind her loving sisters, Laura Billington Pearson and Carol Ackerman.
Gail was preceded in death by her two beloved brothers—Barry and her twin brother, Gary.
A creative and energetic spirit, Gail had many passions and talents. From craft-making and scrapbooking to gardening and home decorating, she brought beauty and care to everything she did. She was an expert seamstress, a wonderful cook and hostess, and had an eye for design that turned any space into a warm, welcoming home.
Gail had a zest for life and a love for learning new things. For over 20 years, she was an avid tennis player before finding her passion for golf—playing almost daily over the past two decades and achieving not one, but two hole-in-ones. She and Gary spent their retirement years in Naples, Florida, where they enjoyed ten wonderful years living in Forest Glen. There, they built lasting friendships and cherished the vibrant, active lifestyle they shared.
Above all, Gail will be remembered for her fun-loving nature, tireless work ethic, and incredibly selfless heart. She touched countless lives with her kindness, creativity, and generosity—leaving behind a legacy of love and joy.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington, Michigan followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM.
