Esther Winifred Henriksen

Obituary

Esther Winifred Henriksen, longtime resident of Farmington and Novi, passed away March 29, 2022 at the age of 95. She was born November 5, 1926 in Grand Rapids, Michigan to Gustav and Elsie Ritzke. She grew up in Grand Rapids and married Robert Henriksen in 1948.  They moved to Farmington in 1968 and lived there until 1987 when she and Robert built their retirement home in Ft Myers, Florida. She returned to Michigan in 2013 where she resided at Waltonwood senior living.  She loved people and made lifelong friends wherever she lived. Shopping was her favorite activity and was lucky  enough to live next door to the mall in her last years.  Esther loved trips to the casino, golfing, and playing bridge. She especially loved cheering for the Michigan Wolverines during football season and yelling at the TV.

Beloved wife of the late Robert and loving mother of the late Eric. Dear mother of Brian (Sue), Craig (René), and Christine (Tom) Tighe. Dear mother-in-law of Coralee Moore. Cherished grandmother of Eric Jr. (Kim),  Jennifer, Megan, Melisa, Colleen, Heidi, Erika (Pat), Mitchell, Amelia, Anna, and Claire. Dearest great-grandmother of Cassie, Kylie, Gabrielle, Evan, Owen, Cameron, Lydia, Ryan, Bradford, Ella, Zachary, and Carter. Dear step-grandmother of Jason (Kelly) and Kara (Eric); and step-great-grandmother of Griffin, Mikaela, Sophia, Ella, and Kate. Esther was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law William (Virginia) Ritzke.

A memorial visitation will take place Saturday, April 23, 2022 from12:00pm until time of memorial service at 1:00pm at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Avenue,  Farmington, Michigan 48335.
