Earl Hagen Obituary

Earl Hagen of Farmington Hills passed away peacefully at his home on February 3, 2025 at the age of 85, after suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

He was born September 14, 1939 in Detroit to Olberg and Emma Hagen. Beloved husband of Joanne for 62 years. Father of Michael (Heidi) Hagen, Russell (Anne) Hagen, and Kristine Hagen (Kevin). Grandfather of Andrew (Samantha) Hagen, Katie (Steven) Hoffman, Chelsea (Thomas) Reesbeck, Mia Hagen, and Rachel Hagen; and great-grandfather of Isaac and Autumn. Dear brother of the late Norma (the late Adolph) Neudeck, the late Carl (Donna) Hagen, Carol (the late Charles) Collins, and Ole (Marie) Hagen.

Earl had a long career as an industrial arts teacher in Dearborn Heights, teaching woodworking, metal working, drafting, photography, graphic arts, and electricity.

After retirement he pursued his love of woodworking and sold his creations at craft shows. He also took up quilting and helped his church to make many quilts that were sent to people in need.

He also spent a good part of his retirement as a very competent handyman, making all kinds of repairs for many thankful people.

He and his wife were members of the Nardineers senior travel group for 20+ years where he held several leadership positions.

He was very active in the churches he attended over the years, both at St. Olaf in Detroit and St. John in Farmington Hills. He faithfully served on many committees and was the head custodian for many years.

Earl is probably most remembered for his 30+ years of involvement with the Farmington area Crop-Hunger walk where he raised thousands of dollars to help end hunger.
