Obituary

Don “Duck” Taylor from Redford Township joined his beloved wife, Bobbie Lou, in Heaven on Mar. 2, 2023.  Don was born on March 13, 1941, passing away just days before his 82nd birthday.  Don was committed and loyal to his family and friends.  His wife was the absolute light of his life and they shared 55 wonderful years together up until her death in 2019.  Fun-loving and reliable, Don was a dedicated brother, father, grandfather, uncle, friend, and more.

Don is survived by his brother Scott (Sandy), sisters:  Bev Cassar, Kathy Earle, Pat Wisdom, and Go (Ed) Walsh, children:  Kerri (Don) LeVanseler, Don (Kim), and Mark, grandchildren:  Katy, Cassie, Shane (Hannah), Andrew, Bailee, Ryan, Kody, Donnie, Ashley, Aiden and great-grandchildren:  Dallas and Charlee, plus many nieces, nephews and friends.  In addition to his wife, Don was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Dorothy, brother Billy, and sister Carol.

Don joined the U.S. Navy at the young age of 17.  After serving his country, he was eager to get back to being with family and building a family of his own.  Always drawn to the water, his favorite free-time activity was being on a boat fishing. He also enjoyed watching football, baseball and hockey, having family dinners and going out to eat.  Most of his working years were spent at Gladd Industries as a sheet metal worker, where his friends and co-workers called him “Duck”.  All the kids loved his “Donald Duck” voice and hearing children’s laughter brought him great joy.  Don took care of the birds, squirrels, flowers and lawn at his home and he took care of all those he loved.  An all-around great guy, Don will be missed, but his family is comforted knowing he is surrounded by love in Heaven.
