Ohman, Donald M. (Don), passed away June 1, 2025, surrounded by his family. Loving son of the late Milan and Donna (Strekely) Ohman, Don was born on January 8, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in Cleveland where he attended Cleveland State University and Baldwin Wallace University. He later moved with his young family to La Verne, California for a brief time, and finally settled in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Don will be remembered as the adored father of Jennifer and Christine, father-in-law to be of Willie Bradley, and cherished brother of Connie Ohman. He will be missed by feline friend Smokey, Nancy - mother of Jennifer and Christine, family, friends, and former colleagues across the country.
Don loved his daughters and was always spotted at their school, sporting, Girl Scout, or youth group events. He catered to most of their whimsical requests, like making lamps out of a bourbon bottle or a stack of teacups. He visited when they lived out of state, and even once saw the elusive Mt. Rainier on a trip to Seattle. He insisted it didn't exist because it was never visible on his trips - and there is a picture to prove he finally saw it!
Don loved to travel. Growing up, he traveled across the country with his father, finding places off the beaten path to explore. He made sure to take the girls to some of his favorite places across the country as they were growing up. He instilled the travel bug in them and always encouraged them to travel whenever, wherever, and however they could. He announced his retirement by planning a trip to Africa and later saying, "by the way, I'm retiring." He was able to travel to Cuba, Dubai, New Zealand, Australia, Alaska, Iceland, and all over Europe in his retirement.
Don was the go-to guy for everyone. From sage advice to home projects to car questions to math problems - he always had the answer. He helped his daughters (and others) with home improvement projects which always ended up to be more than they let on. He could diagnose a problem with a car from a description of the issue, a phone call, or a picture. And when the numbers weren't quite adding up or the world seemed upside down, call dad.
Don was an avid Mopar guy, owning vintage cars - his favorites were his '69 Charger, '69 Dart and his '68 Coronet. His knowledge of all things cars was amazing - he eagerly shared this with anyone and everyone who was interested. He loved to attend car shows, whether it was to show off his prize winning cars, enjoy as a spectator, or see the new cars coming off the line
We'd like to thank the team of nurses and nursing assistants on 4 South at Corewell Farmington Hills and Drs. Lang, Lemon and Paris for their loving care of Don (and family). You made the journey easier and we are so appreciative.
