It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Diane Lea. Diane was a loving mother to her son David and her daughter-in-law Becky; A dear sister to Marilyn Rich and Linda Gregory; Beloved cousin and aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Diane passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on the evening of Saturday, July 25, 2026.
Diane was born in Fenton, MI on March 10, 1946 to Carol Jeanette Dennis (Bryant) and John Edward Lea. She graduated from Central Michigan University with a degree in education. She taught math and computer science at Athens High School in Troy, MI where she also lived for forty years.
She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, MI. Helping others was incredibly important in her life. Diane donated much of her time and resources to the church and played an integral role in providing mission work in impoverished countries. Diane also spent many of her summers volunteering at Skyline Camp & Retreat Center. She experienced many years of joy working with the children at Skyline, and spending time there with her extended family.
A memorial service honoring Diane’s life will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026 at 11:00 AM at First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham, located at 1669 W Maple Rd, Birmingham MI, 48009.
Prior to the service, the family will receive guests for a visitation starting at 10:00 AM in the church narthex with a luncheon to follow the service.
The family asks that donations be made to Skyline Camp & Retreat Center (https://www.campskyline.org/support) in lieu of flowers.
