Dennis Edward Sal, age 80, passed away peacefully in his home in Farmington on February 26, 2023. Dennis grew up in Hamtramck and moved to Livonia to start his family. He was a cherished father who attended every one of his kids’ hockey games and school events. He was a graduate of University of Detroit, where he enjoyed playing baseball. He received his Master’s in Business Administration at the University of Detroit. Dennis was a hospital administrator for many years, starting his career at Touche Ross before accepting a position at Henry Ford Hospital, becoming the youngest CFO in their history at only age 27. Dennis enjoyed golfing, watching local sports teams, traveling and relaxing at his condo in Amelia Island, Florida with his family. Those who knew Denny were charmed by his witty anecdotes and ability to find the humor in everything around him. He had so many great stories to tell, and told them often.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jane Troyer, his daughter, Kristin Powers, his son, Christian (Carl), and granddaughter Sophie Kephart. He was preceded in death by his parents Josephine and Edward Szaladzinski and his first wife Joyce Sal.
A memorial visitation to celebrate the joy Dennis brought us all will take place at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Farmington on Saturday, March 11 (1:00-4:00). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
