Carolyn Threlkeld Williams passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016 at the age of 90. The younger of two children, she was born to Llewellyn T. Threlkeld and Nellie J. (nee Wilson) Threlkeld on October 20, 1925 in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from Cooley High School in 1942, she worked at Excelo Corporation for several years.
Carolyn met her future husband, Harry Robert Williams, in Detroit around the time he enlisted to serve in W.W.II. They exchanged letters while he was stationed in Europe, and married in September of 1947 after he returned. Carolyn worked to help support them while Harry earned his engineering degree. She became a homemaker after their first child was born in 1955.
To all who knew her, Carolyn was an extremely kind and generous person who was completely devoted to family. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Farmington where she volunteered in the nursery and prepared the pews for church services for many years. She always put others before herself and helped those around her in need. Carolyn drove elderly neighbors to their doctors appointments on a regular basis well into her eighties. She enjoyed her card club, golf, ice skating, gardening, traveling, and being with family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Harry (d. 1993). She will be missed by her sons Robert (Idelis) Williams, Paul Williams, Douglas (Vera) Williams; and grandsons Alex (Theresa), Bobby, Jake, and Ben Williams. She was preceded in death by her dear brother Jack W. Threlkeld (d. 2015).
A Memorial Service will held at 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at The First United Methodist Church of Farmington, 33112 Grand River Ave., Downtown Farmington, MI 48336 (E. of Farmington Rd.).
