Betty Margaret Santer, 96, of Novi, Michigan, passed away on March 6, 2023.
Betty was born on July 15, 1926 to Guy and Myrtle Winters of Farmington, Michigan,
and graduated from Farmington High School in 1944.
In 1945, Betty met Bill Santer, just home from World War II. Bill and Betty began a
romance that culminated in their marriage in 1949. Bill and Betty went on to have three
children, Karen Sage, Robert Santer and Susan Santer, six grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren. Betty was predeceased by her husband Bill in 1991.
While working in a wide variety of positions over the decades, Betty’s first and foremost
calling was as a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In this she excelled.
She also had a number of interests and opportunities for giving back to the communities
she lived in, including Detroit, Redford, Farmington, Novi and Northville. She was a life-
long member of the First United Methodist Church of Farmington, and over the decades
enjoyed the many life-long friends she made there. Each of them would describe Betty
as someone who was caring, sweet with a smiling personality and a cheerful, brave,
sensible and kind presence. In short, Betty was one of the good ones.
A celebration Service will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 33112 Grand
River Ave. in downtown Farmington, Michigan at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 22, 2023.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Partners in Housing
Transition (www.partnersinhousingtransition.com) or the Farmington First United
Methodist Church.
