Barbara was born and raised in Toledo, Ohio, to Huburtus and Florence McLain, and attended DeVilbiss High School before receiving an education degree at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. She married Charles Fox in 1953, and they moved to Farmington, Michigan early in their married life where Charles pastored St. John Lutheran Church and Barbara taught elementary school for 30 years. They had three children, Brenda, Mark, and Bethany.
Barbara was a fun and creative woman with many hobbies. Gardening and traveling were the things she was most passionate about, and she was especially enamored with Chinese and Japanese culture and took delight in turning her backyard into an Oriental garden paradise where she spent many happy hours.
Movie-making was another talent of hers, and she was very tech-savvy, keeping up with the latest computer and social media technology. She delighted friends and family with her creative videos of special events and trips in her family’s life.
Barbara is survived by two of her three children, her daughters and son-in-laws, Brenda and Eric Lampela, and Bethany and Curtis Kalina, as well as seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. John Lutheran Church in Farmington, Daily Audio Bible (dailyaudiobible.com), or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
