Yvonne Jean Adkins, also known as Bonnie, of Southfield, passed away November 3, 2020, at age 90.

Bonnie, the daughter of the late Cromer and Mary Ring, was born November 24, 1929, in Detroit, Michigan. Growing up she spent her summers either on the farm in Tennessee with her father's family or in Pennsylvania with her mother's family.

She met her husband the late James and married April 20, 1951. Their first home together was in Redford Township where they welcomed their three children James (Cheryl), Sandra and Bonnie (Warren) Gosselin. They moved to Southfield in 1965 and raised their family there. She enjoyed camping with her family and seeing the United States.

Later in life she was blessed with three wonderful grandchildren; Scott, Kelly (Jeremy) Hilliard and Travis (Mary) Gosselin who quickly filled her heart with never ending joy. They were the apple of her eye, taking them on adventures and being at every sporting event or activity they were a part of. She cherished every moment with them. Her most recent highlight was adding the title great-grandma aka GiGi to her accomplishments. She loved them both (Ian and Derek Hilliard) more than "a bushel and a peck" as she would tell them every time she saw them.

Bonnie was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of Scotia, she greatly enjoyed the activities and adventures these groups took her on. She continued to bowl every week for the past 40 years. For the past 13 years she enjoyed spending time at the family cottage watching sunsets, campfires and boat rides, and best of all spending time with her two great-grand puppies Kona and Gunnar.

She leaves behind to honor her life and memory her children, James H (Cheryl) Adkins, Jr., Sandra Adkins, and Bonnie (Warren) Gosselin; grandchildren Scott Adkins, Kelly (Jeremy) Hilliard, and Travis (Mary) Gosselin: great-grandchildren Ian and Derek Hilliard; brother Cromer H Ring, Jr., nephew Neil (Monique) Ring; and cousin Johnny Ring.

The Adkins family will receive guests at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home Downtown Farmington, from 2:00 – 8:00 pm, with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 pm on Friday, November 6, 2020.

A Funeral Service for Yvonne will be at 10:00 am on Saturday (visitation 9:00 am) also at the funeral home. The Funeral Service will be live streamed on Thayer-Rock facebook page.

Memorial donations in memory of Yvonne may be directed to C.S. Mott Children's Hospital where both of her great-grandchildren were cared for in the NICU.
