Age 71. Loving husband of Patricia (nee Morrison) for 48 years.
Dearest father of William, Michael (Kate), Laura (Rob) Carner, Lisa (Mike) Pilley, and father figure to hundreds of other non-biological children. Playful papa of Mckenna and Andrew Pilley, Alexandra and Cecelia Carner, Rachel and Michael Mertz. Beloved brother of David Klemmer, Robert (Toni) Klemmer, Don (Diane) Klemmer, Larry (Brenda) Klemmer, Mary (Jeff) Hinkle, J.R. Klemmer, Suza (Joe) Barrera and Meribeth Mertz. Step-brother to Dick (Sandy) Klemmer. Proud uncle and special friend to many. Also leaves his canine companion Max.

Bill is preceded in death by his brother, Mark Klemmer; mother, Bettie Klemmer; step-father, Vincent Klemmer; father, Dr. William Mertz; and step-mother Violet.


Funeral Mass Celebration Thursday 10 a.m. (in state 9:30 a.m.) at
St. Priscilla Catholic Church, 19120 Purlingbrook Rd., Livonia, MI 48152. Rev. Theodore D'Cunha will officiate. Interment will follow at Parkview Memorial Cemetery in Livonia.

Bill's family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. (Rosary 7 p.m.) at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Downtown Farmington.
