William
Jameson
Dec 14, 1941 — Feb 16, 2019
William "Bill" R. Jameson, age 77, passed away February 16, 2019 in Livonia, following a long terminal illness. He was born December 14, 1941 in Massachusetts to the late Donald and Barbara Jameson.
He grew up in Rhode Island and New York; enjoying working on cars, taking things apart, and working alongside his father in his machine shop. After earning his bachelor degree in mechanical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, he moved to Michigan to work for Ford Motor Co. as a resident engineer. At the beginning of his career with Ford, Bill joined with Wayne Gapp and Jack Roush, as their crew chief for the Gapp & Roush drag racing team in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Following his 35-year engineering career with Ford, Bill spent 12 years volunteering at The Henry Ford Museum and Greenfield Village. Even in his retirement, Bill continued his strong work ethic, earning an award for the most volunteer hours in 2014. Throughout his life, Bill was a talented engineer and woodworker, he could build and fix just about anything. He loved to travel and explore, preferably via driving and bike-riding. Not only was he an exceptionally hard worker, but he was also very devoted to the people he loved, both as a husband, as a father, and as a friend. He was a gifted, smart, and funny person with a quick sense of humor. People that knew Bill will miss his kind heart, his East-Coast accent, and his signature white hair.
Bill was the beloved husband of Jane Kemppainen; loving father of Terri (Keith) Haranczak and Dale Jameson; dear brother of Thomas Jameson and Bruce Jameson. Bill is also survived by four nephews and their families: Robert Jameson, Jon Jameson, Brian Jameson, and Jeff Jameson.
