Walter "Walt" William Dahlstrom, AKA Big Iron, passed peacefully on May 22, 2014, with his wife, Garlin, at this side. He was born on June 2, 1935 in Flint, Michigan.

His children are Charlotte Bakema (Sean), Kirk Dahlstrom, and Shawn Dahlstrom (Scott Seehase); grandson Hunter Dahlstrom; step-son, Jeff Crane (Gail); surviving brother, Kenneth Dahlstrom. His brother, Karl (Karen) Dahlstrom passed away last summer.

Walt graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he worked for Boeing on the Minute Man Missile Program in South Dakota and other states. Returning to Michigan, he worked at GM for 30 years as a manager and supervisor in the Engineering Division of Pontiac Truck.

He loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and was an avid bridge player. He met his wife, Garlin, at a golf outing in 1997. Their travels included Hawaii, Europe, Mexico, and most of the United States. They wintered in Tucson, Arizona for 15 years where they spent fun times with Garlin's brother, Jim Moore and his wife Carole, at their home.

Walt and Garlin had a great life together. He will be greatly missed by Garlin and his family.

Funeral Service Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home in Downtown Farmington. Rev. Dr. Dale Miller, Senior Pastor of Nardin Park United Methodist Church, Farmington Hills will officiate.

Visitation Tuesday 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
