Obituary

Born Vivian Capiau in Schendelbeke, Belgium on June 16, 1925, Vivian had one older brother,
Ivan Capiau. She moved to Edmonton, Alberta at the age of 3, then moved to Dover Centre,
Ontario, where her parents were share croppers that eventually owned several successful farms.
After completing 10th Grade, Vivian went to business school and became a successful all around
secretary. She was a bookkeeper, knew shorthand and her amazing spelling and language skills
made her highly sought after. After a few years she met and married William Soens on
November 27, 1948. Debbie was born in 1950 and the three of them moved to Detroit after Bill
was recruited by Ford Motor Company to work for them. They soon moved to Dearborn, where
Bill Jr. was born in 1955 and Marybeth in 1963, and resided there for forty years. Vivian was
graceful and classy, always looking put together. She loved her family first and foremost, but also
enjoyed Tigers baseball, jazz, politics, mob movies, cooking, attending many of her grand
children's events and getting a great deal on something at Jacobson's or Macy's.

Devoted daughter of the late Edgard and Teresa Capiau,, loving sister of the late Ivan (Mary)
Capiau. Loving wife of the late William Soens; mother of Deborah (Glen) Shilling, William Jr.
(Andasia Latimer), Marybeth (Michael) Boczar; grandchildren Seth (Christa) Shilling, Sara (Alex)
Garn, Jordan Soens, Jonathan Soens (David Morse), Adrienne (Erik) Sheline, and the late
Matthew Boczar. Great Grandchildren Max, Ainsley and Sawyer Shilling, Talon, Addy, Payton
and Skylar Garn, Eliana Soens and her namesake Vivian Sheline. Also survived by many other
loving relatives in Canada and Belgium.
