Thomas James "T.J."
Hennessey
Sep 26, 1927 — Sep 22, 2018
Age 90, of Sterling Heights.
Younger brother of the late John Patrick Hennessey. Tom was born in Mount Holyoke, Massachusetts. Shorty thereafter the family moved to Michigan where he attended Dearborn Fordson High School and then the University of Michigan after serving in the U.S. Navy. With a degree in Economics, he joined Chrysler Corporation's finance division right out of college where he remained until retiring in 1983.
During this time Tom held numerous assignments including time in New Orleans as part of the space program; Chrysler's Marine Division in St. Claire Shores; and as director of country operations in Turkey during the late 1970's. He never married, and eventually settled in Southfield, Michigan near his brother John and spent many a weekend and summer vacation with his older brother's family.
An avid bowler and golfer, Tom was an active member of Black River Country Club in Port Huron, and his interest in finance and numbers was evident in his poker playing and sports wagering. In retirement he split time between the Old Mill in Hamtramck and Meriwether's in Southfield.
Tom is survived by his nieces Susan Eileen (Robert) Pepin, Ann Catherine Hennessey, nephew Michael Joseph (Diem Pham) Hennessey, numerous cousins, and good friends Joe and Janet Faron.
In memory of "T.J." the family asks that you make donations in his name to your favorite charity, have a cold beer, and play a round of golf.
Final resting place will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Southfield.
