Of Howell, Michigan formerly of Livonia, MI, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away Friday, February 11, 2011. Age 83 years.

Shirley was born to the late Archibald and Chrisabella (Duncan) Mitchell. She was married to Joseph Antonishek on October 12, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. Shirley was a life-long homemaker and served as vice-president of the family owned electrical company. She was preceded in death by her parents, Archibald and Chrisabella Mitchell; one niece MaryAnn Glanbin, one brother, Steven Mitchell; and two sisters, Chris Sequin and Lucille Glanbin; one granddaughter, Emily Christine VanOrd. Left to cherish her memory is her best friend and loving husband of 64 years, Joseph Antonishek, and their six children: Joe (Debi Cabana) Antonishek of West Bloomfield, MI; Steven A. James of Charleston, SC; Rick Antonishek of Yucaipa, CA; Greg (Lisa Parquette) Antonishek of Highland, MI; Susan Antonishek of Austin, TX; Sharon (Ken) VanOrd of Howell, MI. Thirteen grandchildren: Joseph Antonishek, Kevin (Tricia) VanOrd, Robert (Kristine) Antonishek, Jodi (Gary) Shelp, Elizabeth James, Michelle (William) McGrory, Ashley (Drew) Rose, Richard Antonishek, Jacqueline Antonishek, Brittany Antonishek, Katrina Antonishek, Krista VanOrd, and Sara VanOrd. Twelve great-grandchildren: Aaron, Kaylie, Hannah, Austin, Alexa, Bayla, Jack, Fynn, Max, Bella, Ava, and Ronin.

Shirley's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the oncology staff at the University of Michigan, Arbor Hospice, and Synergy Home Care for the exceptional kindness and care they provided.

Shirley's Funeral service will include a memorial for her granddaughter Emily and will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 14, 2011 at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, Rev. Beth Foster will officiate services and conclude with burial in Glen Eden Memorial Park at 35667 Eight Mile Rd., Livonia, MI. Friends may call at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home on Sunday, February 13, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Luncheon follows the service at the Livonia Elks Lodge #2246 located at 31117 Plymouth Rd. in Livonia.
