Dearest brother of Marcy (Mike) Bell & brother-in-law of Jean Pyykkonen and the late Alan (the late Alice) Pyykkonen. Also preceded in death by parents: Morris Silber and Shirley (nee Rivard) Silber. Loving uncle of Scott Bell, Steven (Jeannie) Bell, Stacey (Theron) Barbour, Ian McPherson, James Guzek and Bryan (Melissa) Guzek. Great-uncle to Daniel and Benjamin Guzek.

Richard was a graduate of Livonia Stevenson High School, class of 1968. He received a Bachelor's degree from University of Michigan and a MSW from Wayne State University. His career was in substance abuse counseling, retiring from Hegira Programs, Inc. Richard had many beloved pets: Damien, Raspberry, Gidget, Arne, Zoey, Mikki and Dax. He was an adopted "father" to Finnegan, Bosley and Corona.
