Age 85, of Farmington.

Wife of the late Lester Haapaniemi. Mother of John (Pat), Martha (Renzo) and Peter (Sue). Grandmother of Peter (Becca), Eliza, Casey, Paul, Jill, Sam and Eric. Sister of Gretchen and Mary. Good friend to many in Dearborn, Farmington and across the country.

Nancy was a member of US Navy (WAVES), board member of Dearborn Orchestral Society, board member of Dearborn Historical Commission, founding member of Dearborn Canoeing and Punting Society. Active in the Women's Association for the Dearborn Orchestral Society, UM Alumni Club of Dearborn, Sew & Tell. Enjoyed camping, canoeing, history, opera, lunch with friends, the cabin up north, painting, sailing, dinner parties, travel, Lake Michigan and her grandchildren.

A Memorial seervice will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Thayer Rock Funeral Home, 33603 Grand River Ave., Farmington. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
