Mary Ellen
Lecompte
Mar 9, 1955 — Jan 17, 2021
Mrs. Mary Ellen LeCompte (nee Kato), a longtime resident of Southfield and later Farmington Hills, Michigan died unexpectedly at her home at the age of 65 on Sunday, January 17, 2021 from complications of early onset Alzheimer's.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years, Randy; her children Chris (DeeDee), Dan (Stephanie), and Valerie (Justin); her six grandchildren: Noah, Will, Drew, Molly, Peter, and Charlie; and her brother Ken (Nan), nephews Stuart and Drew, and niece Claire.
Mary was born on March 9, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois to Zoltan & Eleanore Kato (Spliethoff). She lived in Minnesota until she was nine, when the family moved to Southfield, Michigan, where she met the love of her life, Randy, in seventh grade. High school sweethearts, Mary and Randy were wed on September 25, 1976 and quickly started a family.
Mary was a devoted mother to her three children, an avid gardener, and a gifted seamstress. Mary ran her own house cleaning business for more than two decades, all while caring for her family and later her flower gardens. Mary's faith in Jesus was a central and vital part of her life and she enjoyed attending church with her family. She also sang in the church choir for many years. Mary enjoyed vacationing in Elk Rapids, Michigan with her family and always loved the sand and waters of the great lakes.
Mary will be greatly missed by those who knew her, especially her immediate family. The family will hold a memorial at a later date.
