Marilyn Jean Pflug Fritz 1930-2020
Marilyn Jean Fritz passed away on December 30, 2020 at the home of her daughter, Barbara Fritz Roberts, surrounded by loving family. Marilyn was born February 5, 1930, to the late Charles Evans Pflug and Audrey Cochran Pflug in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
Marilyn graduated from Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in 1947, prior to attending the University of Wisconsin. In 1951, Marilyn received a degree in Dietetics with a minor in Chemistry. On July 12, 1952, Marilyn J. Pflug married Edward W. Fritz, and they were married for 68 years until Ed's passing in late 2020. Together Marilyn and Ed raised four children and would eventually have six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Marilyn always enjoyed a good laugh and spending time with family and friends. She spent countless hours as a Den Mother, Girl Scout Leader, Church member, supporting her favorite CROP Hunger Walk charity, traveling, and always exploring and experiencing new things. An active member of the Congregational Church since 1956, she sang in the Choir and was also a member of the Handbell Choir. In 1992, Marilyn traveled to Israel and the United Kingdom with other members of her Church. Her love of exercise lasted throughout her life, as an avid walker and swimmer. Additionally, she taught Senior exercise classes at the YMCA in Farmington Hills, Michigan, for thirty years, until stepping down at the age 88 years young. Her genuine love of music inspired her children and grandchildren to develop their musical abilities which Marilyn enjoyed immensely. Marilyn enjoyed a close relationship between her family and the families of Jack and Dorothy Banerdt, Virginia and Dino Laurenzi, and Doris and Victor Leccese. Between the 4 families there were 15 kids. They grew up together on the same street and remained in touch long after Marilyn moved to Michigan.
Marilyn loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her dogs. She learned to appreciate the cats of her doting daughter and adored her daughter's German Shepherd. Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Edward who passed-away on October 23, 2020 and her brother, Charles C. Pflug. She is survived by children Edward (Cindy) Fritz of Fort Mill, SC, Richard Fritz of Columbus, OH, Robert (Nancy) Fritz of Brookfield, WI, Barbara (Douglas) Fritz Roberts of Canton, MI, sister-in-law Shirley Pflug Pfarr of Kenosha, WI, three nephews,
one niece, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held, and a celebration of her life event will be planned in the future. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to the CROP Hunger Walk in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
