Lois Jean Pfanz Thomas, age 92, passed away at home on November 11, 2019.

She was born at her family's farm in Columbus, Ohio on July 6, 1927, the youngest of four children. She was a graduate of Bexley (Ohio) High School and the Ohio State University, where she majored in education. She met and married her husband Ward Thomas while at Ohio State. The couple raised eight children, largely in Franklin, Michigan. In later years, Lois and Ward divided their time between the Palm Springs, California area and Harbor Springs, Michigan.

Lois for many years enjoyed tennis and travel. She kept up an extensive correspondence with friends and relatives all over the country. She followed the Detroit sports teams closely, particularly the Red Wings and the Tigers. She was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes football team.

She loved music, singing, dancing and parties, and was well known in the family for her puns.

Her husband Ward, daughter Sally (Don) Kaufman, son in law Charles Gale, and brother Harry Pfanz preceded her in death.

Her children Rebecca Gale, Jennifer (Chip) Mills, Laura (Charles) Kovtun, Emily Thomas, Christopher (Marlene) Thomas, Kurt (Denise) Thomas and Betsy (Adrian Wenner) Thomas, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews survive her.

A funeral service will be held at Franklin Community Church 26425 Wellington Rd. Franklin, Michigan, on November 16, 2019, at 11 a.m.

The family will receive friends at the church in the parlor at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service.

The family suggests that friends make a donation to their favorite charity in lieu of flowers.
