Kenneth John
Soroka
Jul 20, 1967 — Sep 5, 2020
God's kingdom and all of heaven's angels gained a new soul on Friday, September 5th, 2020. Kenneth J. Soroka, at 53 years old, left the world much earlier than he and all of us wanted, but now he has his brother Tony, stepfather Nick and many more family members who are embracing him with open arms in heaven.
Ken had many talents which always amazed everyone that knew him. As a young child, his mind was naturally drawn to mechanics and he became obsessed with cars. His love for cars grew as he started taking apart matchbox cars, to building model cars and ultimately building real cars.
As a teenager, most of his time was spent either underneath a car or driving one around with his closest friends – and getting into a little trouble while doing so wasn't a rare occurrence. When Ken wasn't building cars, he was building go-carts and mini bikes that also had him
dodging the police a time or two. His mechanical talent, love of cars and degree at NIT (National Institute of Technology) landed him many jobs at companies including Chrysler, AVL, FEV and more. Every co-worker he crossed paths with could clearly see the value of his gifted
mechanical brain. In recent years, he spent countless hours with his son Devin and niece Ashley putting cars together in his back garage amongst a sea of car parts.
Ken was also very gifted in music. At a young age, he taught himself to play the piano and guitar. During his childhood, typical family gatherings would often include him strumming his guitar alongside his uncle, Hollis Johnson, who played the piano. As he grew, jam sessions were
frequent with his brother and friends, Chad Harnish and Tom Prucha. A memorable moment was his time on stage at North Farmington High School for a talent show where he, Tony, and Chad played "You Might Think" by the Cars to an auditorium full of screaming fans. Since then,
Ken collected more than a dozen different guitars and music memorabilia which included backstage pics with his favorite band Van Halen. Every conversation Ken had with friends and family always included something about music. Just like his brother Tony, music was in his DNA.
All of those that knew and loved Ken witnessed his magnetic personality. Aside from his neverending humor and obsession with making people laugh, Ken had a boisterous spirit, huge smile, unforgettable laugh and giving heart that didn't just gain him friends, it made people truly love
him. He made new friends instantly. If you were with him when he was meeting people for the first time, you would think he knew them for years by the way he talked and instantly connected with them.
Ken was a sensitive and sweet little boy that grew up to be a handsome, loving man. Ken loved his family immensely and there was no doubt that he knew how much his family loved him. Whether dealing with life's challenges or celebrating happy times, he knew down deep that his
mom, sister and the rest of his immediate family were always by his side. Ken loved two women in his lifetime, the mother of the children he adores and Jaime Castellani, who he was with for over 16 years. He loved her deeply to his end. Ken's devotion and love for his son Devin and
daughter Avery was the deepest. As a divorced dad, his efforts to give his children the best life was constant. Although he had struggles in his final years, his love for Devin, Avery and his family remained strong and will live on in all of their hearts forever.
Ken is survived by his children Devin and Avery; his mom Judith K. Devine, his father John C. Soroka, Jr., his sister Kim Schachinger, nieces Lindsay and Ashley Schachinger, nephew Austin Schachinger and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
A small, private service is planned at Our Lady of Sorrows Church. A Memorial Tribute will be planned at a later date for more to attend – details to follow.
