Of Howell, formerly of Livonia, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away Friday, February 25, 2011. Age 87 years.

Joe was born to the late Alexander and Anna (Conjelko) Antonishek of Windber, PA. He was married to Shirley Mae Antonishek on October 12, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. Joe proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. He was an electrical contractor by trade and a member of the IBEW for 65 years.

He was preceded in death by Shirley, his best friend and wife of 64 years by only 2 weeks, his parents, Alex and Anna Antonishek; one niece MaryAnn Glanbin, two brothers, Al Antonishek and Ted Antonishek; one granddaughter, Emily Christine VanOrd. Left to cherish his memory are six children: Joe (Debi Cabana) Antonishek, Steven A. James, Rick Antonishek, Greg (Lisa Parquette) Antonishek, Susan Antonishek and Sharon (Ken) VanOrd. Thirteen grandchildren: Joseph Antonishek, Kevin (Tricia) VanOrd, Robert (Kristine) Antonishek, Jodi (Gary) Shelp, Elizabeth James, Michelle (William) McGrory, Ashley (Drew) Rose, Richard Antonishek, Jacqueline Antonishek, Brittany Antonishek, Katrina Antonishek, Krista VanOrd, and Sara VanOrd. Twelve great-grandchildren: Aaron, Kaylie, Hannah, Austin, Alexa, Bayla, Jack, Fynn, Max, Bella, Ava, and Ronin.

Joe's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Arbor Hospice and Synergy Home Care for the exceptional kindness and care they provided.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Thayer-Rock Funeral Home, Rev. Beth Foster officiating Burial will take place in Glen Eden Memorial Park in Livonia.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 1st from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Luncheon follows the service at the Livonia Elks Lodge #2246 located at 31117 Plymouth Rd. in Livonia.
