Age 72, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2015 after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was born the son of the late Wayne and Helen Wingert on October 30, 1942 in Detroit. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Ober) for 51 years. Loving father of Lori (Scott) Willmeng and Timothy Wingert. Cherished grandfather of Heather and Ashley Willmeng. Dear brother of Wayne (Choux) and brother-in-law of Keith and Sandy Ober. Uncle of Dawn (Sean) Andonian, Chris (Amy) Ober and Eric Ober.

John was a retired engineer from Chrysler Corp.
He loved the Michigan Wolverines, portrait painting, riding his Harley and walking with his beloved dog, Rusty.

There was a private funeral service arranged by Thayer-Rock Funeral Home. Interment took place at Glen Eden Memorial Park and was officiated by Rev. William Merrill of Peace Lutheran Church.
