Obituary

Jack Thomas Huston, 98, a longtime resident of Commerce Township, Michigan, passed away on November 1, 2026. Born April 16, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio, Jack lived an extraordinary life marked by faith, devotion to family, service to his country, and a pioneering spirit that left a lasting impression on the automotive industry.

Jack began his career as a Merchant Marine, sailing aboard freighters on the Great Lakes. He subsequently served in the United States Army from February 26, 1946, through July 18, 1947, with the 27th Constabulary Regiment in Germany during the post-World War II occupation.

Following his military service, Jack worked at Kaiser Freight before joining Ford Motor Company as an inspector. In 1957, his ingenuity and entrepreneurial determination led him to establish Husite Engineering. A pioneer in introducing kirksite tooling to the automotive prototype industry, Jack dedicated 60 years to providing innovative engineering and manufacturing services.

Jack was a proud member of Sojourner No. 423, F. & A.M., the Moslem Shrine, and Detroit Commandery No. 1, Knights Templar. He was also a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of SAE International.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Jack enjoyed playing golf and enthusiastically cheering for his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes. A man of deep faith in God, he also held a special admiration for Abraham Lincoln.

Jack possessed remarkable wisdom, a loving heart, and a warm, welcoming smile. Gifted in many trades, he could seemingly accomplish anything he set his mind to. During life’s most challenging moments, his family could always depend upon his thoughtful guidance, steady reassurance, and willingness to help.

Jack was the loving father of three sons, Tom, Gary, and Larry. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Tom, who passed away in 2001. He is survived by his beloved wife, Joan; his sons, Gary and Larry; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Above all, Jack will be remembered for the love he gave, the wisdom he shared, and the countless ways he enriched the lives of those around him. His legacy lives on through his family, his accomplishments, and the memories held close by all who knew and loved him.

A life well lived, a family deeply loved, and a legacy that will endure for generations.

May he rest in eternal peace in the loving arms of God.
