Evelyn Kivi age 101

The Kivi/Marttila families have lost their "constant." If we called, she was always there. If we hurt, she listened. If we had a problem, she'd talk it out until it seemed less of a problem. We were never alone. She was always there for so many people.

Evelyn Kivi (nee Marttila) was born in Liminga, Michigan at the family farm in 1920. She was a graduate of Hancock High School and then moved to Detroit for employment where she met Theodore Kivi. They were married until his death at 67. Evelyn died peacefully at her senior living residence in Saline, Michigan. Prior to that she was a resident of Livonia, MI for almost 50 years.

Evelyn is survived by her children, Cheryl Evelyn Stone (nee Kivi), John (Janet) Kivi, and Barbara Squire (nee Kivi), nine grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, two sisters, Hanna Lupan of St. Ignace, MI, Laila Evans of Henderson, NC and a brother, Raymond Marttila who retired to the family farm in Liminga.

Evelyn will be sadly missed but happily remembered.

Visitation for Evelyn will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 pm until her 1:30 pm Funeral Service, Friday, March 5, 2021. This service will be on our facebook live for you to watch. Please click here.

Following the service at the funeral home, a graveside service will be at Glen Eden Memorial Park, Livonia.

Memorial donations may be directed to the Finnish American Heritage Center 435 Quincy St. Hancock, Michigan 49930 C/O Finlandia University.

We will be following the latest health guidelines with masks being mandatory and are permitted to have no more than 25 people in attendance at one time for visitations and funerals. Please be mindful while you are here as others may wish to pay respects also.
